Functions, but not what I expected...
By tennis player
I owe the Kuhn Epicurean all-stainless garlic press and love it. My mother was visiting recently and was impressed with it, but found it a bit hard to squeeze and thought it was better suited to a larger hand. My 12-year old daughter, who likes to cook, made the same remark.
I wanted to give my mother a garlic press, and thus, this "Easy-Squeeze" unit seemed ideal. However, we found it no easier to squeeze than the Epicurean. Furthermore, the red handles are plastic and not as brightly colored or shiny as the online image suggests. The press has a flimsy or squishly feeling relative to the Epicurean. As we're squeezing, you can feel the handles bend, as well as wobble slightly side-to-side.
It still presses garlic beautifully. The actual pressing mechanism and screen are made of the same high-quality stainless steel as in the Epicurean. It is just as easy to clean.
For the price ($19.95 vs. $39.95), this easy-squeeze unit may be a good deal, but we much prefer the heft and solid feeling of the Epicurean. We feel like the Epicurean will last a lifetime and don't mind spending the extra money. However, with the easy-squeeze, the question for me is not IF it will fail, but WHEN?
We've only used it one day, so maybe I'm worrying about something that will never happen. However, I intend to return this press and give my mother the Epicurean instead.

KUHN RIKON Garlic Press
By Eva
I had and broke few garlic presses in last few years. We love to cook and garlic is a must in our kitchen. This press is the best I ever had. The egronomic handles are much easier to squeez then all the other (much more expensive) presses I had. And the stainless steel sieve swings out for cleaning - now, that is smart! I highly recommend it, it is very good product. It also works well with fresh ginger.
it is now a year later and the press is still working as new. GREAT!

Very Disappointed
By AnonyMouse
We've been ordering from Amazon for over 6 years, and the Kuhn Rikon Easy-Squeeze Garlic Press marks the first time we've ever had the occasion to take advantage of Amazon's terrific return policy.
I cook a lot, and most of my dishes include a generous amount of garlic. For years, I had the Zyliss garlic press, and was very pleased with it. Over the years, the cutting surface on it wore, and it became harder and harder to crush garlic, so I started shopping for another press. After careful research (I love Amazon's Customer Reviews and never shop without them; thanks, reviewers!), I decided on the Kuhn Rikon.
What I found was that it was *much* harder to operate, requiring a great deal more strength than my old Zyliss. Crushing two average-sized garlic cloves required both hands and three separate "squeeze-attempts". After all of the effort, I was left with much larger pieces of garlic than I had gotten with the Zyliss which were clearly visible in my marinara.
I had particularly been sold on the "swing-out basket" construction, which I felt would make it very easy to clean. Unfortunately, the wider holes plugged much more than my old press requiring me to scrape the residue out with my fingernails under hot running water. The next day, I packed it up and returned it. Then I sat down and ordered a new Zyliss.
A note on Amazon's return policy; I found it was easier to return this to Amazon than it would have been if I had bought this in a brick-and-mortar! Amazon even printed out a shipping label with all pertinent information barcoded on it. Easy!
Final score: Kuhn Rikon: 0, Amazon: 5
