Wonderful item, and unique gift

My family has enjoyed the MIU France stainless-steel battery-operated salt and pepper mill set. I have given several sets for wedding gifts. You have fresh pepper fast and easy, and just enough salt. The set takes several batteries, but they last a long time.

Great Mills, Some Annoyances

For their primary function, grinding pepper and salt, they're great! Super fast, quiet, very nice, even grind. I'm no expert, but it's hard to imagine how any grinder could be any better.

Still, there are a few annoyances:

1) They take 6 AAA batteries each! That's 12 batteries total. So add another $8-10 to the cost, and an additional $4-5 each every time the batteries run down. Hopefully that won't be too often, but still....

2) They're very large and heavy for the volume of salt/pepper they hold. What you see in the window is it. I guess that's not a big deal, but it just seems slightly deceptive.

3) The light is simply annoying. These things grind very quickly. If I hold the button down long enough for my eyes to become accustomed to the light, I end up with 4 times as much pepper as I can stand. These are so quick I prefer to hit 'em in short bursts, which means I end up with short flashes that actually make it harder to see what I'm getting. I wish the light had a switch I could flip to disable it. I may end up just snipping the wires.

All that notwithstanding, at the Amazon price I got the pair of them for, I'd definitely buy them again. They do grind great!

Great Salt and Pepper Mill!

After going on a the new cruise ship Freedom of the Seas and seeing the chef with one of these pepper mills....I had to purchase one. After reviewing the other products, I decided this would be the best one to get. I decided to go ahead and get the salt mill also. I have been very happy with both of these items and do not know what I would do without them now. I only use sea salt in the salt mill because it has the most health benifits. Regular table salt is not good for the body. We have been using alot more pepper because it comes out so easily and we do not have to wear our wrists out and still not get enough....I get enough wrist workout typing at the computer. I get the mixed black, white and green pepper corns. Our meals are much tastier and the health benefits of using more pepper are worth the purchase.
